Why Bering Waters Group Chose To Sponsor $30,000 Prize For Best Project From Poland Submitted To Solana’s Riptide Hackathon.
A few weeks ago we announced that we are sponsoring a $30,000 prize for the best Poland-based project submitted to the Solana Riptide Hackathon, going on now until March 17, 2022.
“We have decided to invest in this important sponsorship because we believe Poland has an untapped pool of tech talent with significant entrepreneurial spirit that needs support and encouragement,” said Mike Weinrub, our tech firm´s Business Lead. “Ethereum, Polkadot, and Terra have all built a strong presence in Poland, but the profile of Solana still remains limited there, and we would like to see that change.”
“The intention behind the $30,000 prize was to ensure that every single developer and team in Poland building an exciting project on the blockchain today has an opportunity to use the most suited underlying infrastructure, has access to Solana, and — most importantly — has the chance to receive strategic funding,” said Yuriy Kashnikov, our Tech Lead.
Both Mike and Yuriy are serving as judges for this global, online event for the Solana ecosystem and broader community, and will decide which Polish project is the best. We are expecting a few thousand participants globally to submit projects to the Hackathon before it concludes.
“I have led tech teams for more than 10 years, which puts me in an interesting position to understand that building a cool application is one thing, but being able to access strategic venture capital during the most critical early-stage is a tremendous opportunity,” Yuriy said. “Eastern Europe has an immense pool of tech talent and we want to help the most ambitious and talented Polish developers succeed.”
Riptide is Solana’ fifth global hackathon, with up to $5 million in prizes and seed funding available to participating developers.
“Our prize provides an opportunity for Polish developers to take a promising idea and build a successful business, with the support and resources of Bering Waters and its partners — all while promoting the growth of the Solana ecosystem worldwide,” Mike said.
